3M™ 5480 PTFE Tape - 33m x 355mm Roll

Code UPC/EAN:
Code SKU: CTF171/084.33355

The extremely slippery surface of 3M ™ 5480 Calendered PTFE Film Tape offers good adaptability when separated from the roll compared to common extruded PTFE film tapes.

We have developed this tape as a quick and easy solution to reduce friction between moving surfaces.

It works as an anti-adhesion or easy-release medium between surfaces where pressure, temperature changes and other factors can create a measure of adhesion.

Applying this tape can help improve surface movement, eliminate squeaks and rattles, and reduce machine noise.

PTFE is resistant to chemicals and can be used as a temporary chemical barrier.

The tape can be used in a wide temperature range, from -54 ° C to 260 ° C, making it suitable for a variety of applications.

This particular roll is 375mm with adhesive + 7mm sides without adhesive, although if you need it, we can remove these sides.

- Roll wrapping for coil, web and plate processing where sticky materials and inks may be present

- Bundling and securing of cables at high temperatures

- Squeak and noise reduction

- Shielding and protection against chemical agents

- Demoulding for composite joints

What is PTFE? Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic material that is used in various industries and applications to reduce the coefficient of friction. Due to its non-stick properties and high heat resistance, PTFE is used as a non-stick coating for pans and other cookware. It is an excellent insulation material for electrical applications, due to its lack of conductivity. PTFE does not react to many chemicals, due to the chemical resistance of fluoropolymer bonds; this makes it effective for vessels and pipes for reactive and corrosive substances. PTFE reduces friction, wear, and energy efficiency of machinery. Due to its low friction, PTFE is used in industrial applications where sliding between parts is required, such as bearings, gears, sliding plates, etc. In these applications, it offers significantly better performance than nylon or acetal. 3M has put this versatile compound through an extrusion process.

- A non-stick PTFE film provides an exceptionally slippery surface for easy cleaning

- Silicone adhesive removes cleanly from various surfaces

-  Wide temperature range for performance in heated machinery and equipment

- 3M ™ calendered PTFE film tapes are more adaptable than common extruded PTFE film tapes

- The 3M ™ 5480 tape uses a compliant backing of calendered polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film. Our tape offers an extremely low coefficient of friction.
