3M Novec 7100 is 3M's proprietary hydrofluoroether.

It is a colorless, low-odor technical fluid formulated as a substitute for ozone-depleting substances and compounds with a high global warming potential (GWP) for many applications.

Its unique properties make it useful in a wide variety of industries. Its high boiling point and excellent environmental, health and safety profile make it useful as a heat transfer fluid, cleaning solvent, lubricant application, and many more applications (including preservation of biological specimens)

The high boiling point and low surface tension of Novec ™ 7100 fluid make it ideal for use in steam degreasing applications as a neat (neat) azeotropic component or as a cosolvent parts cleaner.

In addition, its chemical and thermal stability, non-flammability, and low toxicity make it useful for many other industrial and specialty solvent applications.
