3M Novec 1700 is a fluorinated electronic coating that protects components against moisture and corrosion, ideal for high-reliability electronic applications.

CHARACTERISTICS

- Composition: 2% by weight fluorinated polymer, dissolved in 3M Novec 7100DL hydrofluoroether (HFE) solvent.

- Coating thickness: Ultra-thin (~0.1-0.2 microns), does not interfere with the electrical properties of components.  

- Repellent properties: Hydrophobic and oleophobic, protects against water, oils, silicones and photoresist solutions.

- Drying: Air dries in seconds, no thermal or UV curing required.  

- Safety: Non-flammable, VOC-free (according to US EPA), does not damage the ozone layer, low toxicity.

- Thermal resistance: Withstands up to 175 °C for 24 hours without loss of repellent properties.

- Regulatory compliance: Complies with RoHS and environmental regulations, ideal for sensitive electronic applications.

APPLICATIONS

- Printed circuit board (PCB) protection: Applies an ultra-thin protective layer to PCBs to protect against moisture, dust, and corrosion in devices such as smartphones, IoT sensors, and medical equipment.  

- Lubricant migration prevention: Prevents lubricant migration in spindle motors, hard drives and micromotors, ensuring stable performance in precision electronic devices.
